Carrots' Love Hate Relationship with Fish and Chips

Today, I needed to stay back in my office for a late night meeting. Hence, I decided to hop over to a nearby coffeeshop for a quick dinner before my meeting. I headed to a stall that sells western style meals that can fulfil my non carbo needs. As I browse through the menu, I was very tempted to order Fish and Chips. But I eventually suppressed my urge and ordered the pan fried dory fish with salad instead.

Fish and Chips is one of my comfort food during dinnertime when I felt stressed at work during the COVID period. There is a Hans restaurant near my home that sells relatively inexpensive Fish and Chips with Mayonnaise + Coleslaw + Fries + Tomato Slice + cucumber slice + Drink + Soup + Toast.....all for less than $12!! Eventually, I got hooked to this sinful dish. Below photos shows my Fish and Chips conquest during the COVID period.

I simply love bitting into the crunchy batter and savouring the mayonnaise drenched white dory flesh. Even as I'm writing this blog post, my stomach and mouth started to growl and salivate respectively.

But each time after wiping out every scrap and morsel from the plate, reality kicked in as my stomach consistently protested by emanating pangs of discomfort.

The deep fried fish that is encapsulated with batter is usually loaded with sodium and unhealthy saturated fats and trans fats that clogs my arteries and raises my blood pressure. The addition of mayonnaise, fries and other sides simply brings me one step closer to an appointment with my cardiologist.

I rue the day when my willpower have to once again cross swords with the seduction of this health hazard.
